February 23 is international Spay day !

This time my blog entry is not about jewellery at all,
it is however about something I consider important for all of us living creatures.

Meet my beloved French Bulldog "Bokes".
We love her very much and she is most certainly the most spoiled dog in the world. The reason is: She deserves it!

Never the less, these are the facts:
Although there are an estimated 100 million cats and dogs kept by responsible and caring people in the United States, there is also a tragic number of these companion animals who suffer horrid cruelties associated with abandonment.

Animal shelters in the U.S. kill about 5.1 million such abandoned pets each year. And uncounted millions more suffer sickness, exposure, starvation and death on the streets of the nation’s cities and towns, and in the fields and forests of the countryside.

In the little town where I live (Port de Soller in Mallorca/Spain), several people care about abandoned pets that live on the streets. These poor animals are the lucky ones. They get food in several places they very well know in the mean time, but more important, most of them were brought to the local vet to be spayed/neutered.
This will prevent the population to grow uncontrolled.

I am sure that anyone who read this post to this point is someone who cares. So with all my heart I thank you for that care, and I would like to encourage you to contribute in any way you can to improve the live of the abandoned creatures that live in your neighbourhood and if possible have them spayed/neutered.

With love from Bokes and Germaine...

Lost Dream Pendant 10

The Antique Look.

I made pendants with a rotating disc before, a bit similar to this one,
but this time I wanted to give it a real antique look.

You can give new (almost white) silver different patinas by oxidations. Depending on the product you use, the oxidation has a different colour. Sometimes more brownish and sometimes more grey or black. I wanted dark grey for this one, making the pendant  look old and used. It may sound complicated and difficult, but in fact I achieved the wanted effect dipping the finished piece in ordinary "bleach"...

The longer you let the silver rest in the bleach, the darker it gets. Scrubbing the oxidation off (partly) with a rough scourer makes it look used and old ass well.
Simple as that!

Lost Dream Pendant 9 - - - - - - - - - - - - THE TRANSFORMER

OK, so this time there are no photographs of how this pendant was made. For a change I will explain to you what its function is !

Maybe you did not know, but every pendant of the Lost Dream series has a secret function that can be put to use by the wearer.
This pendant is a "Dream Transformer".

Let me explain: Everybody has dreams. I mean the kind you have when you are asleep. Not all of the dreams we have are pleasant, some are unhappy dreams or even real bad dreams. Well, this is where the "Transformer" comes in handy !
If you wear the "Transformer" during the day, it will absorb all the emotions that you experience that day. For a fact, these emotions trigger the dreams you have during sleep the following night.
So this is how it works:
If you place the "Transformer" pendant over your bed at night, or put it close to your head, it will act as a filter and transform the negative emotions into positive ones. Your bad dreams will be "transformed" into positive and happy dreams and further more the negative emotions will be transformed into good luck !

I know, this is pretty amazing...
There is one condition however! The person that wears the "Transformer" pendant must be open-minded to the unknown, may have no fear of his emotions and must have plenty of fantasy that she/he is willing to share with the ones she/he loves...

Simple, or not?
Believer or not?

No matter what you think of this, and no matter if you believe in its amazing functions or not, the "Transformer" pendant is a beautiful piece of jewellery that will look great on you. Any other wonderful things it might do to the wearer are a nice bonus.
:)
